Forest Stewardship Council
A third party organization that certifies wood and wood products are responsibly harvested, processed in a way that sustains habitat, and eliminates water pollution while protecting the well-being of indigenous peoples.

Processed Chlorine Free
Recycled paper that is bleached without chlorine or chlorine compounds. This prevents dioxins from polluting our environment.
Soy Inks
Soy Ink is naturally low in VOCs and made from a renewable resource that takes less energy to produce and its post-production waste is not hazardous.
Vegetable Inks
Vegetable inks are made from non-toxic renewable plant sources. Many printing inks are petroleum-based, and contaminate soil and groundwater with dangerous heavy metals while also emitting harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air.

Made in Canada
Goods that are wholly obtained
or produced in Canada. Goods incorporating foreign raw materials
or components must meet the following requirements: (1) the last substantial transformation of the goods must have occurred in Canada, and (2) at least 51% of the total direct costs of producing or manufacturing the goods is Canadian.
- Biodegradable
The ability of a substance to be broken down physically and/or chemically by microorganisms - usually requiring exposure to sunlight, air and moisture.
- GREEN-E certified
A leading independent consumer protection program for the sale of renewable energy and greenhouse gas reductions in the retail market. Green-e offers certification and verification of renewable energy and greenhouse gas mitigation products.
- Post-consumer Waste (PCW)
A finished material made from paper that has been used by end consumers and then diverted from landfills to be reconstituted into post-consumer recycled fiber in a recycling mill.
- Eco-cert
A private European certifying body that awards its seal to products whose total contents contain a minimum of 10% certified organic ingredients. 95% of total ingredients must be of natural origin.
- Local/Handmade
Products that have been sourced locally and handmade by a local artisan. This is an important part in supporting artists and growth in communities.
- Recyclable
Products that can be collected, separated or recovered from the solid waste stream and used again, or, can be put through an established recycling program for re-use in the production of other products.
- Fair Trade
A guarantee that the growers and production laborers involved are provided with equitable pay and safe, healthy working conditions.
- Organic
Refers to ingredients grown without the use of chemical herbicides, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and processed without any harmful chemicals and solvents.
- Recycled Paper
Refers to uncoated paper containing a minimum of 30% post-consumer fiber, or to coated paper containing a minimum of 10% post-consumer fiber. Ecologically speaking, the greater the percentage of post-consumer fibers the better.
